Calendar year
The School of Continuing Studies calendar year runs from September through August.
Online Learning Tools
Both online and inclass Continuing Studies courses use technology conponents for some or all areas of instruction.
Therefore, credit and non-credit students will all recieve WebCT accounts to access course material.
Credit and Noncredit
Students have the option of taking class offerings for semester credit, certificate of attendance or personal enrichment. Credit will be for undergraduate or graduate general electives unless otherwise indicated in the course descriptions. There are no academic prerequisites to attend a class in the School of Continuing Studies even if its taken for college credit.
Credit work is based on students completing a minimum of 15 learning hours per credit. That includes in-class and/or online course content discussion and lecture, as well as independent student work such as assignments, projects, readings and research.
Traditional and PSEO Students Please note:
Concordia University traditional students: individuals who are currently degree seeking students (not in degree completion programs), and typically attend day classes; must obtain academic advisors approval and verification from student accounts to participate in School of Continuing Studies classes. Additionally, traditional students may only take 4 credits per semester and only twelve (12) Continuing Studies classes may be used as electives toward graduation.

School of Continuing Studies
Since the inception of our adult education programs in 1985 Concordia University has understood the learning styles, life styles and pressures on adult students. Our Continuing Studies classes are no exception, and like the degree completion programs, are dedicated to accommodating the busy schedules and diverse interests of the working adult.
In-class courses are offered as "intensives" where students have face-to-face classroom instruction and then complete additional coursework independently. Online classes are also accelerated (running 4-8 weeks), students and instructors often meet in weekly "chats" with discussion board learning tools, outside readings and assignments.

Classes are offered at convenient times for working adult learners. Typically after traditional work hours and weekends, meeting once a week. The instructors are experts in their fields with academic and practical experience to provide the learner with information that is immediately applicable to their home, personal, or professional life, and the topics include some of the most pressing issues for today's society and workforce.
- Managing across generations, maintaining the valued worker, supporting the aging workforce, higher level managerial skills, improving leadership and communication
- Family issues, child growth and development, best practices for educators, child care issues and management, school age care and youth professionals
- Personal growth and enrichment and career choices
- Individuals seeking professional development may select courses offered for from one to four credits on weekends, or evenings, in the classroom, online or at their work site. These are available in a wide variety of topics covering personal and professional development, or customized training specifically tailored to your workplace or organization and fitting into your workday. Group discounts are available for hosting a training seminar, Concordia alumni and Seniors.
