Meet our Faculty

Most of our faculty are practitioners in the field of Criminal Justice:

Linda Finney, Retired superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension

After 30+ years in law enforcement, I know the stress and ever changing demands can take its toll on criminal justice professionals, but I'm encouraged by the commitment to excellence and service that is exhibited by Concordia's students. What I find special about teaching in the CJ program is that it affords me the opportunity to still contribute to this profession by helping to educate these future leaders.

Joe Arvidson, Probation Officer, Ramsey County Community Corrections

In that many members of the cohort are current CJ practitioners, I love watching the careers of former students develop. It is extremely satisfying to hear a familiar voice on the news, or see a former student's name in the paper and recall them from a recent cohort. Additionally, I often receive calls or e-mails from former students--not asking for help academically, but for assistance as a criminal justice peer.

The connections made at Concordia truly last a lifetime

One of the most fulfilling aspects of teaching at Concordia is seeing the students' eagerness and enthusiasm for delving into new concepts, materials and techniques. Above all else, though, the most rewarding part is seeing students apply the learned information at his or her workplace. This is, after all, why we are all here at Concordia, and it is both the teacher and student's ultimate aim.
